THESE THINGS YOU MUST KNOW AND DO

1. Smile when you speak in microphone.

2. Look at the number of impulses. Each impulse on counter means nickel has been placed in coin box and the customer or customers have that many records coming. Keep counter levers on zero.

3. Start motor when light comes on. Float records on; don't lay arms on turntable.

4. Push coin counter back gently.

5. Push release button firmly after music has started and you have finished taking number.

6. Look at the record; if the edge is chipped, place the needle in groove inside of chip. Don't hit the record in center pin of table.

7. Lower needle on to record gently. You are to watch this with an eagle eye. The dropping of tone arm even 1/4 of an inch may ruin a $1.00 needle,a $6.50 crystal, a 75 cent record, and if the needle is bent or broken,it will ruin every record it plays on. Not only this, but the music will sound terrible in location. We repeat again, concentrate your eyes on the hand that is lowering the needle and BE CAREFUL!

8. In picking up the tone arm, lift the arm straight up at least 1 inchand then swing it over to the rest. This stops needle scratching records when lifting arms.

9. If you do not hear customer's voice, move Talk Listen Switch up and down. If you don't hear customer's voice, turn up volume. If you still don't hear customer, move your phone plug up or down. Don't give up without getting the number, and if you can't get a response report that box out of order and ask them to tie it up and turn in a service call to the office. Play a number.

10. To check your headphone, insert plug in pre amp. Put on record and throw the Federal Switch up, move cord up and down and around. If it cuts in and out, hang them on panel in back of wash basin for repair.

11. To check pick up, place your plug in front of location pre amp and throw Federal Switch up. Place your finger GENTLY on top of pick up head and sway your finger back and forth. If needle is loose, it will crackle and squeak. If crystal is broken, no tone will be heard or it may be very cracky. You must change motor at once.

12. In filing records, part the file cards and restore a record gently and avoid striking edges. Avoid striking center pin on motor. We must stop edge chipping now.
